SAT –Test for Admission to College (For Juniors)

The SAT is a college admissions test that is nationally recognized to inform colleges what the students know in reading, math, and writing in addition to high school grades to help them make admission decisions. The test is offered several times a year. It is a 3-hour and 45-minute exam. Most students take the SAT for the first time in May of their junior year and then a 2nd or 3rd time in October and November of their senior year.

Our twelve-week program is an intense 2-hour class that meets weekly. Our test prep program gives our students the best chance of maximizing his/her score by becoming familiar with the format and content on the exam. The class begins the end of January to prepare for the May exam of their junior year. Our program focuses on the following:

  • Our students will master the SAT by developing test-taking techniques and strategies that will be practiced on our three full-length SAT online exams.
  • Each of our twelve-weekly classes will devote 1-hour to math instruction. Each week students will receive SAT homework (previous SAT questions) emphasizing the topics that were covered during the session.
  • The critical reading portion of our program includes over 300 commonly tested SAT words (quizzed weekly) that is followed up with sentence completion questions (worth 30% of the critical reading section) and reading comprehension passages including paired passages (worth 70% of the critical reading section).
  • The writing section of the test consists of multiple-choice questions that range from easy to difficult covering sentence improvement, error recognition, and paragraph improvement. In class we will cover the 14 grammar errors that represent over 90% of the errors that will appear on the exam.
  • One of the unique portions of our program has to do with the essay component of the writing section. It will count for approximately one-third of the total writing score. Our program offers two one-on-one sessions with a college writing instructor to help maximize the student’s essay score.
